Center History

National Taipei University of Business has a long history, dating back to the Japanese occupation period. With the efforts and dedication of all faculty and students, the school has now reached over 100 years since its founding. After becoming a university, the institution actively worked toward becoming a high-quality business university.
The General Education Center aligns with the university’s development goals and started its core curriculum development in the 2006 academic year, implementing it over several years. The Center Curriculum Committee carefully reviews new courses to ensure they meet the goals of the General Education Center and embody the spirit of core curriculum development, creating general education courses that reflect the university’s distinctive characteristics.
Since the university was upgraded in 2014, it has focused on training internationally-minded, broad-visioned, and open-minded business leaders. The university continues to strive toward becoming a "business university," a "teaching-focused university" and a "technology-oriented university. "As such, cultivating highly skilled business professionals with cultural resource management abilities is an urgent priority.
The "Common Disciplines" program was established in 2001, and in December 2007, it was officially renamed the General Education Center by the Ministry of Education. The center is responsible for planning and teaching the university’s general education courses. Its mission is to cultivate students’ knowledge in culture, science, aesthetics, ethics, and politics - essential qualities of modern citizens. A modern citizen should have broad vision, good life wisdom, analytical and critical thinking abilities, communication skills and a drive for lifelong learning. Thus, we hope our students will continue to pursue professional excellence while balancing their development through general education, ultimately achieving the ideal of well-rounded education.
In addition, in line with the university’s goal of becoming a business university, the institution is planning the establishment of "School of Accounting and Finance," "School of Management" and "School of International Marketing" on the Taipei campus, using the resources and space of the existing ten departments. It also leverages the regional and cultural creative characteristics of the Taoyuan campus to establish the "School of Innovative Design and Management."
With these schools as a foundation, and in collaboration with the General Education Center, the university is developing into a high-quality business university. The goal is to provide students with deep (specialized) and broad (generalist) learning, encouraging them to fully develop their personal characteristics and cultivate their liberal arts education, realizing the educational philosophy that integrates "knowledge exploration" and "humanistic care."
